Philhellenic composition in bronze

Second half of the 19th century. Composition in bronze by the Philhellene artist Benedetto Civiletti (1846-1899). In the night of June 6, 1822, Kanaris and Pipinos set fire to the Turkish flagship. Numerous Greek fighters and the head and right arm of the great French Philhellene Baleste hang on the masts. In 1875, Prince Umberto ordered the transfer of the composition to marble, to offer it to the city of Palermo.
