Description
In the history of the Balkan peoples the 19th century holds a dominant position. It is a time when the Balkan peoples mobilize the whole of Europe with national liberation struggles and uprisings. This was especially felt during the Greek revolution (1821-1828). The enormous importance of the Greek revolution is not limited to the fact that the Greek people undertook for many years a fierce struggle against a superior enemy, but is also determined by the fact that the flag of the revolution was raised when Europe was dominated by the reaction expressed and supported by the Holy Alliance of the United Monarchies. For this reason, the Greek revolution becomes a pole of attraction which gathers all progressive forces.
